How to Unlock Ryzen 7 6800h for Overclocking

Introduction

The Ryzen 7 6800H is a really good processor and you can use it to overclock your computer. If you are new to overclocking then I would recommend reading this article first then follow afterwards for unlocking the processor:

Overview

In this guide, we'll show you how to unlock Ryzen 7 6800h for overclocking and what it means for your system.

Why would you want to unlock?

If you're an enthusiast or just really into performance, then unlocking will allow you to squeeze more speed out of your processor by allowing its multiplier value (mV) to be raised beyond stock limits. This can help improve gaming performance as well as overall responsiveness when running multiple programs at once.

Unlocking the Ryzen 7 6800H is pretty simple actually you can complete in just two steps.

Now that you have downloaded the latest BIOS, unzip it and rename it to patched_bios.bin

Now copy this file on a USB stick and place it in the root directory of your hard drive. In order to do so, you will have to select "USB drive" as an option while booting up your computer with an operating system installed on it (Windows 10/8/7).

Step 1

  • Download TRX40 Tweaker

  • Run it and click on apply patches.

  • Click on patch the ID of AGESA from 0071 to 3172 (this will patch your BIOS).

  • Get it to save in the same directory name it patched_bios.bin

- Downloading TRX40 Tweaker

  • Downloading TRX40 Tweaker

  • Running TRX40 Tweaker

  • Patching the ID of AGESA from 0071 to 3172 (this will patch your BIOS)

- Run it

  • Run it.

  • Unzip the ZIP file you download and save it on the root of your drive. You can also use a program like WinRAR for this purpose, but be sure to choose "best compression" in order to get maximum performance from your computer.

  • Open Ryzen Master Utility and disable AMD Cool ‘n’ Quiet features: Go to Start > All Programs > AMD > A/S Control Center (AHCI). This will open up an interface where you can select what features are enabled or disabled for each device connected to your system's motherboard or CPU socket (or both). In order to disable these features completely, click on “Disabled” under each category until all three options have been removed from their respective subcategories; then click OK! The next step is important because if anything goes wrong during overclocking later on down this road...

- click on apply patches and patch the ID of AGESA from 0071 to 3172 (this will patch your BIOS)

  • Click on Apply Patches and Patch the ID of AGESA from 0071 to 3172 (this will patch your BIOS).

  • Open up your motherboard's BIOS by navigating to it in Windows and pressing F2, or using a shortcut such as this one:

  • The screen should look like this:

- get it to save in the same directory name it patched_bios.bin

  • Save the patched_bios.bin file to the same directory as your TRX40 Tweaker software, so that it will be able to find it when you open up the program.

  • Make sure that you save this file on a USB stick or on your hard drive, so that if something goes wrong with overclocking at any point during this process (which is highly possible), all of your data can be recovered easily.

Tip: I would do the first step while I was still in my windows 10 so that I could make a quick bootable USB stick. You could also unzip the ZIP file you download and save it on the root of your drive. This will make everything easier later.

  • After you've downloaded the ZIP file, right-click on it and select Extract All. When finished, you'll have a separate folder called Ryzen_7_6800h_LLC2_Overclocking_Guide with all of the files needed for overclocking your computer.

  • Now that we're done with step one, open up Command Prompt (or PowerShell) as an administrator:

  • Once in command prompt/PowerShell, change directories to where those files are located by typing cd followed by a space then c:\amd\ryzen 7\6800h lnk overclocking guide\amd ryzen 7 6800h lnk overclock guide 2\amd ryzen 7 5ghz 4 core 3rd gen family black edition microprocessor platform processor package (3m) i5-3610p quad core @ 2 ghz intel pentium g4400 3m chip set

Step 2

  • Open your Ryzen Master utility and disable AMD Cool 'n' Quiet features

If you don't have this utility, go ahead and install it (it is free). You can follow this guide on how to unlock AMD Ryzen processor with Ryzen master utility.

Now that we have a patched bios on our USB stick (or wherever you put it) we can continue with unlocking in AMD Ryzen Master Utility if you haven't installed AMD Ryzen Master Utility then go ahead and install it. If you have not unlocked your processor before then follow this guide on how to unlock AMD Ryzen processor with Ryzen master utility.

- Make sure that your computer is off, then open Ryzen Master utility and disable AMD Cool 'n' Quiet features

First, make sure that your computer is off and then open the Ryzen Master utility. Next, go to the Performance tab and uncheck the box for AMD Cool 'n' Quiet features.

After this step, restart your computer so that it can detect any hardware changes made on your system.
